In his first guest blog for ETB, Chris lays out the three keys to fat burning success.
There is no secret that the majority of people would like that lean beach body look that turns heads at every opportunity. You will find below three essential elements that will help you in obtaining that body you’ve always wanted.
Proper Diet
The age old saying goes ‘Abs are made in the kitchen and not in the gym.” This holds very true as in if you don’t maintain a well-balanced diet, all the cardio and weight training in the world means nothing. By well balanced I mean high protein, low carbs and low fats. Eliminating foods high in sodium, sugar and “bad” carbohydrates are a must. Eating protein such as chicken, fish and ground turkey will provide the protein needed to keep your metabolism high and in a fat burning state. Try eating carbohydrates such as brown rice, sweet and or baked potato. As for fats, almonds and olive oil are good sources of healthy fats.
Weight Training
The more muscle you have, the more successful you will be in burning fat. A proper diet along with resistance training will help increase your metabolism thus burning more calories and taking the inches off your mid section. Although you can’t “spot” reduce fat loss, a routine between 30-45 minutes 3x a week can provide the boost you need to get that fat burning furnace going.
Cardio! Cardio! Cardio!
The final key to the equation in the fat burning process is equally as important as the other two. By doing cardio, what you’re actually doing is speeding up your heart rate, which in turn is also helping you burn calories and lose weight. There are many different forms of cardio you can choose from as in walking, jogging, swimming, bike riding and etc. Studies show that 20-30 minutes of cardio can heavenly impact how much weight a person can lose. A very popular form of cardio is H.I.I.T (High Intensity Interval Training), in which a person performs cardio in bursts, (i.e. sprints and or intervals).
If you combine these three approaches, you will be well on your way to your health and fitness goals.
