Find The Time!

As a person who has made fitness a priority in her life, one of the most common excuses I hear from people who don’t exercise is that they simply don’t have the time. Now, not everyone can run on four hours sleep like me (I’m half vampire), but everyone can find time in the day to work out. There are 48 half hours in the day. Pick one.

Kidding aside, I guarantee that once you start working out and make it a natural part of your daily routine, you won’t be able to give it up. Studies show that it takes three weeks to create a habit, and what habit is more worth creating than one that will extend your life, make you feel positive about yourself, give you the energy to keep up with your family/job/activities, and might even help you drop a pants size (thereby necessitating a shopping trip. See? I told you it was a habit worth creating!).

How can you get the most out of your workout in the shortest amount of time? By using compound sets. You can pair lunges with curls, or put together squats and shoulder presses, for some examples. Not only does this work several muscle groups at once, but will push your heart up into a zone that will give you a cardiovascular benefit as well. Translation: Lift weights and you get to stay off the boring treadmill!

As much as we’d all like to spend an extra half hour in the gym and eat whatever we want, it simply doesn’t work that way. I know. I’ve tried. We all have. Diet happens to play a larger role in consistent weight loss/maintenance than even exercise. Your body craves healthy, non-processed, whole foods that will help enhance your efforts in the gym.

Make yourself a promise to try a new routine for three weeks. And I promise you’ll love the results!
